Thank you

If I were to try to walk to the closest train station it would take two or three days. I don’t, however, plan on doing so, but just take a minute to think about how long it took to go anywhere 200 years ago. To get anywhere you walked or rode in a wagon or on a horse. Now we have such an abundance of travel options that we could utilize so much better, and one way is to have more stops on Amtrak.

Also, I would just like to thank those of you who have recently started to follow me on my blog and to support me in my mission to get a train station in Rutledge. I was so excited to see that I had followers.

Not giving up

I’ve decided that I’m no giving up just yet, I am going to send a letter. I say that it’s worth a try. Even though I may get a no that just means that it will always be a yes somewhere else.

Train Stop for Rutledge

Every time my family or anyone else in my village goes on a train trip we have to go at least one hour in every direction , even though Amtrak runs right through Rutledge two miles away. If we could get even a 60 second stop, my family and everyone else would use so much less fuel that rises and burns a hole straight through our atmosphere. We try, but ride sharing doesn’t change the fact that every time we use gallons of fuel just going to the train station. If we had a station in rutledge we could bike all of our stuff there in a trailer.

 

     I have traveled many times in my life, by plane, by car, by train, by boat, by bike and on my own two feet. But because almost every person in the U.S. who can afford it owns a car we as a country are using much more fossil fuels than we need to. If we used trains and carpooled to stations we would use much less fossil fuels. That’s what Dancing Rabbit is trying to do: we are carpooling to and from train stations, air ports, and car rentals.

     In two weeks my family is going to visit our extended family for Christmas vacation. we will be taking a car because it is less money, but it is not always the best way to go. If you are going a long way, there are advantages to taking the train: you don’t have to pay for any hotels or have to pay for food along the way, but if you use a car you have the advantage of being able bring your own food and if you are traveling alone or have just two of you you can put the seats back and sleep in the car. 

Have you ever played solitaire? well, if you have, then you know that you sometimes play it because no one will do anything with you. That is the sad fact about solitaire and, if you ask me, cars. I am someone who likes to do things when i want to do them, and, when i’m in the car i feel pretty helpless. That is why I would like a train station in Rutledge mo, U.S.A.!

It’s been forever

It has been a long time since my last post, because if I must admit I almost forgot about it.

Since i’m still young I can’t expect to send a letter to Amtrak telling them I want a station in Rutledge and get results. Maybe even if I sent a lot of letters, but when I do the research there will be lots of other ways for me to ask for the things I want in Rutledge.

Even though I may never get a station, i’m going to keep trying! Maybe because when I think of how many times I travel by train and how long of a car ride I have to take even if I rideshare with someone it uses a lot of fossil fuels that could overall be made smaller if there were a station in Rutledge.

More thoughts

Whenever I read a book about someone going on a long car ride I feel sorry for them mostly because it wastes a ton of bio fuels but partly because they have to sit in a car for a long time (I get car sick.)   ):

A train station for Rutledge, MO, U.S.A.!

I’m a kid growing up in an ecovillage called Dancing Rabbit and I like to travel by train because it is the most eco public transportation.But there isn’t a train station for at least 45 miles in any direction even though an Amtrak train passes right through our town of Rutledge, MO. And  I hope to change that!
